Partnering with parents and ministering to teenagers since 1995, PROTAS is a dynamic teen-led, adult-mentored, relationship-based youth community with the goal of teens becoming strong disciples of Christ.

PROTAS = Playing, Relationships, Offering, Teaching, Accountability, & Service
Connect each week in community with your peers (6th – 12th grade) — the schedule includes games, worship, small group discussions, a short devotion at a teen level, and more. They meet on Sundays from 5-7pm, and also during the week in smaller discipleship groups divided by age and gender.

Sunday Night
Large Group
Sunday Night Youth Group is for ALL students 6-12th grades from 5-7pm — invite a friend! Connect each week in community with your peers — the schedule mixes up each week and can include games, snacks, artist of the week, worship, small group discussions, the occasional football game on the big screen, relationships, and a short devotion at a teen level.
Discipleship Groups
These weekly communities are where students gather during the week in groups divided by age and gender. Transformation in Christ happens over good food, deepening friendship, studying God’s word, and praying for one another in these communities of peers with a caring adult mentor.
Missions & Service Projects
Domestic Missions
Each summer we serve with Young Life Fairfax Capernaum. Our teens walk alongside teens with special needs as one-on-one buddies through every aspect of a week at camp which includes: the ropes course, zip-lines into the lake, horse rides, painting class, club, & gospel processing during cabin times. Young Life staff and our teen buddies create an environment for these campers to experience the best week of their life, making sure every teen has the chance to hear and respond to the good news of Jesus is the primary goal of this weekly gospel community/camp. God has been transforming teenagers lives with surprising joy and eternal life through this partnership between YL Capernaum & APC teens!

Service Projects
Teens serve the body of Christ and our community in many ways including as a coffee service team, as VBS helpers, and partnering with ALIVE as volunteers at their food distribution in a ministry of deed.
Retreats
PROTAS gets away as a community on several trips every year:
- Our own Winter Retreat is held over President’s Day weekend and is an awesome 3-day weekend away growing in grace and in friendship with each other.
- Sr. High Modgnik (KINGDOM spelled backward) is a retreat that draws more than 600 students and youth leaders from 26+ churches all across the mid-Atlantic.
- Jr. High Potomac Modgnik is a “retreat plant” from the group above and purposefully designed for churches in the DC area.

There are many needs for adults to help lead ministry to teens inside the family of APC (PROTAS: APC’s ministry to teens) and to our local community (Young Life: City Of Alexandria & Young Life: Fairfax Capernaum). Those who show up in the lives of teens earn the right to be a trusted adult friend who can speak the light of the unchanging gospel truth to local youth.
