In 1997, the couple went to Paraguay to plant a church, sent by a local Presbyterian church in Chile. In Asunción, they planted a growing church, a ministry that, after six years, was transferred to the local session. Joel subsequently pastored Gracia y Paz under APC (2004-2017) and recently led the Hispanic ministry for five and a half years under Briarwood PCA in Birmingham, Alabama (2018-2023 – Briarwood Español). He desires to see a growing community of teenagers trusting in Jesus and being transformed in the places where they are hurting most, right where they are, just as they are!

Adam and his wife Laurie were married in 2001, started attending APC in 2002, and have five children — Mella, Dante, Brody, Asa, and Miles. An Alexandria native, Andrea has called APC her home church since she was a young teen. She, along with her husband Justin Stephens whom she met in APC’s youth group, attended Covenant College while living in Chattanooga, TN. They returned to Alexandria in 2009, and together they have three children, Emmett, Phoebe, and Ransom. They are blessed to be one of a number of families at APC who enjoy three generations worshiping together.
With a background in catering and events Andrea loves to plan a party, but believes that hospitality goes well beyond menus and decorating. She feels passionately that it is the call of every Christian to extend biblical hospitality to both the stranger and to those in our church family. It is her desire to help foster a community where everyone serves one another joyfully, where “They’ll know we are Christians by our love”.
Andrea enjoys making all the things, living on the East Coast, road trips with the fam, hoarding vintage Christmas decor, and spending time with her large local extended family. She loves to talk about sunscreen, the Tudor period is her Roman Empire, and she never turns down a good podcast recommendation.
