APC is a church full of families with children. Thus there are many activities geared toward our youngest members:
Children's Church takes place during Sunday worship, providing children ages 5-7 a worship service on their level. They hear the Gospel and learn to pray and sing as they prepare to join the adults for worship in the sanctuary.
Children's Sunday School classes take place at 10:45am and focuses on learning the Bible and how to apply it to life. The Sunday School material presents a gospel truth in many ways, beginning with a lesson from scripture, a supporting activity, and—if time permits—a craft that is linked to the lesson.
Explorers meets Sundays 5:00-7:00pm and is for children ages five through 5th grade. Explorers is like a Covenant Fellowship Group for children. Children have an opportunity to build relationships with one another and with the leaders of their small group. The night includes game time, dinner shared together and a lesson from Tim Keller’s PCA New City Catechism. New City Catechism is based on and adapted from the great Reformation-era catechisms, providing kids with rich exposure to the great truths of our faith. You can take a look at this resource at newcitycatechism.com. Explorers is also a great outreach program for children to invite their friends and other children in the community. For more information, contact Leslie Bridge, Director of Children's Ministries.
There are several APC families who homeschool their children. These children frequently gather together for special activities. Contact the church office for more information is taking place.
Nursery is the first introduction to gospel community for our children, and our desire is that they learn of Jesus' great love for them while they are entrusted in our care. APC offers a nursery for children ages four and under. The nursery is available during worship and Sunday School, until noon; and also on Sunday evenings where children spend the time singing, making crafts, learning Bible studies, playing, and eating dinner. Volunteers are always needed to serve our littlest members. If you would like to volunteer or have questions about the nursery, contact Erin Furgerson, APC Nursery Coordinator.
VBS is an annual summer week-long event of discipleship and outreach for children ages five through 5th grade. VBS focuses on developing the whole child through Bible lessons, service, art, drama, and a variety of other activities. Each day the kids will learn one truth about God's character. Contact Director of Children's Ministries, Leslie Bridge in the church office to sign up your children or to volunteer.
